Yogifi gave you a good suggestion. Of course validation will work. Any
message can be set up as Error, Warning or Information.
But remember, if you do not build the validation right, the message will pop
up all over.

Validatio only works for checking of the existing setup but it will not give warning message for each type (New/Used) asset. that is just information message.
Client is looking for information message.
